Our Team …

We are working on putting together a highly qualified team of experts and surgeons to discuss and develop the area of regenerative medicine within Wales.

Heading up this exciting project is amit_picture Mr Amit Chandratreya, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based at Bridgend Hospital NHS.

Mr  Chandratreya has completed 2 prestigious Lower Limb Clinical Fellowships in Nottingham and Bradford. His interests cover the range of knee surgery including arthroscopic anterior and posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction for the unstable knee, meniscal surgery, patello-femoral problems, articular cartilage repair and autologous chondrocyte transplantation for joint articular surface damage, osteotomy and joint replacement for the worn knee. He also offers treatments like Unicompartmental replacement, Oxinium total knees (special bearing and in nickel sensitive patients) and patellofemoral replacements.

Mr Chandratreya has a special interest in the development of Biological Treatments and hopes to bring, with this exciting partnership, a range of new and clinically safe procedures into Wales.


Qualifications

MBBS in 1990 from Pune, India; Orthopaedic training initially in India; MS (Orth) and DNB (Orth) degrees. Queens’s Medical Centre, Nottingham; completing his CCST in Trauma and Orthopaedics and obtaining the MCh(Orth) and FRCS(Orth)Glasg.  He is listed in the GMC Specialist register.

Sub-Specialities: Experienced in all aspects of Orthopaedics, with specialist interest in Lower Limb Arthroplasty, Knee Surgery and Sports Trauma.

He took up post in the Bro Morgannwg Trust in March 2006.
